#pinning

Lately my wardrobe has been feeling pretty stale. You know how sometimes you just become bored with EVERYTHING you own and you only feel comfortable in like, one outfit. That's exactly how I've been feeling for the past couple of weeks. So instead of going and spending lots of pennies in Topshop (I can't lie, it's totally what I want to do) I turned to Pinterest. I must have spent hours over the past few days making boards of various looks which inspire me to put different things together and help me hit the refresh button on my clothes without spending a penny. I thought I'd share a few of my favourites with you.

What do you think? What inspires your wardrobe?

It's true, they're real.

Fake eyelashes. There fiddly, annoying and have a scary ability to make you look rather like a drag queen. Just under a year ago I decided to get eyelash extensions. My patience doesn't stretch to spending hours in front of a mirror sticking spiders legs to my eyes, so I felt I had found the perfect solution. Don't get me wrong, I loved my eyelash extensions and kept them for a good 8 months, getting them refilled every 3 weeks. But boy, they are expensive. Spending around £60 a month can become a little loathsome and to be honest, the upkeep began to become a bore. Trying to wash your hair without getting your face wet should require a degree and the glue used began to irritate my eyes.

ANYWAY. The lashes had to go. Fickle as it sounds, it wasn't an easy decision. I had grown so used to not having to think about touching up mascara throughout the day and felt a little worried about going back to my 'natural' face. Whilst sifting through my little sister's makeup bag I found a little sample size of Benefit's 'They're Real' mascara. I've always been a big fan of Benefit, but was a little dubious to the mascara as I really don't love 'Bad Gal Lash'. How wrong I was.

(Yes, this is the tester tube but I currently down own to many monies so this will have to do!)

It's such a brilliant mascara. The application is really slick and doesn't clump the eyelashes at all. The brush is rubber which works way better for me than the synthetic types you find on others and I feel like it coats the lashes slightly more evenly. It even has a little bobble on the end so you can reach all those little niggly lashes which you usually just can't reach so it makes your eyes look extra huge and Zoey Deschanel-esque.  It sticks around all day too, which is something I find hard to come by. My mascara is usually begin to make a break for it by midday, but this one is for the long haul.

It's pretty reasonably priced at £9.50 for the small sample tube (in Boots) and £19.50 for the full sized version. Ladies, we have a keeper.

Cake Face

I'm Katy and I love full coverage foundation. Please don't judge me. I envy girls who reach for their MAC Face and Body everyday, or who reach simply for the concealer to get them through the day. As a teenager my skin was always quite up and down, and it was something I was quite concious about. I discovered Estee Lauder Double Wear through Tanya Burr YEARS ago, and bought it as a means to disguise my teenage face (sob.)

Four years later, aged twenty and with clear(ish) skin, it's still the most important thing in my make up bag. Throughout the year I can vary in shades, but my usual go to shade is 1N2 Ecru. The selection of shades is HUGE and they cater for such a wide variety of skin which a shade run for neutral, pink and yellow toned skin.

The foundation comes in a glass bottle without an open top. To apply it, I tip a 10p sized blob on the back of my hand and dot it over my cheeks, forehead, chin and nose. On a day to day basis I just rub it in with my fingers, but if I want it too look a little more...polished, I use a Real Techniques Buffing Brush to buff it onto my skin.

Coverage wise, it's thick. Use too much, and you get a serious case of the cake face. However, with the right amount and some good blending it makes you look like you woke up flawless. Once it's on, it's on. I don't ever feel like I have to 'touch up' in the day.

It's a little on the pricey side at £28.50 BUT a 30ml bottle lasts me a solid two months, and a little goes a long way. All in all, it's my saviour.

What's your favourite foundation?
